Research on the Baltic and Slavic Peoples

For quite some time now I’ve been trying to research the origins and early history of the Balts and the Slavs, both of which I count among my ancestors. Not only this, but as many of the readers of this blog surely know, the websites current logo is a Slavic version of the Indo-European Sun Wheel, and I have actually been criticised for not having written a single article about this great group of people in modern Eastern Europe.

Because of this I wanted to reach out to you to see if any of my readers know of any particularly valuable sources, available for a Western audience (meaning that I unfortunately do not speak any of the highly complex Slavic or Baltic languages), to help me in my research.

All suggestions would be highly appreciated.

  1. The history of Sorbish culture, still existing only here in Germany around Bautzen and in the Lausitz region since around 500 AD, is going back very long time, may be one interesting angle of view in this regard.

  2. Looking forward to hearing more about the Slavs, ny partner is Polish and so I’ve learned quite a lot of the language but would love to know more about it’s origins. Sorry I can’t help with a source though.
